UAE Mourns Passing of Sheikh Khalifa: Three Days Closure and Flags at Half Mast

UAE schools are flying their flags at half mast as the nation begins forty days of official mourning upon the announcement of the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, on Friday May 13.

Work at government ministries and departments, as well as private sector organisations, will be suspended for three days, starting today. While UAE school regulators have not yet made any specific announcements on the potential of school closures, it is expected that school operations will not be affected.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan served as the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi since 3rd November 2004. He was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
