NCEMA: Green Pass Removed in Abu Dhabi

Covid-19

This article is part of an editorial series on Covid-19

In a special Covid-19 briefing on Sunday 6th November 2022, held by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), it was announced that Covid-19 restrictions in the UAE would be removed almost entirely.

For Abu Dhabi schools, this is understood to mean an end to the Green Pass requirement for staff, visitors and students aged above 16 years. The requirement for individuals who test positive for Covid-19 to isolate remains in place. An isolation period of five days is required in such instances. ADEK has not yet made an announcement on this change.

The announcement, shared by NCEMA on Twitter, said:

“Today, we announce the second phase of the easing of restrictions, after studying the epidemiological situation in the country while monitoring occupancy rates in hospitals and intensive care for COVID-19 cases. All announced decisions in the briefing are based on careful studies and continuous research across all vital sectors in the country, and they will be activated at 06:00 on Monday, 7th November, 2022.”

“As for the Al Hosn App, its use will be limited to proof of vaccination and test results inside and outside the country upon request. Thus, green pass is not required to enter public facilities and sites. As for sporting events and activities, organizing bodies at the national and local levels may request pre-examinations, or vaccination certificates, according to the type or importance of the activity.”

“PCR testing and treatment health facilities will continue to operate and the five-days isolation period for those infected with COVID-19 will still be implemented.

“Our efforts were realized thanks to the directives and vision of our wise leadership in dealing with the pandemic, as well as societal efforts and self-responsibility of each community member.”
