Eid: 9-Week Summer Holiday Looking Likely

Dubai’s education regulator, the KHDA, is giving Dubai’s private schools the opportunity to close for the summer on June 26th, which coincides with the Eid holiday.

Eid Al Ahda is expected to fall on June 26th.

Should schools take advantage of the KHDA approved calendar, the summer break would start a week earlier than in normal years: In 2022, the academic year was “not to end before 3rd July”.

Schools will return on the 28th August 2023, giving parents the prospect of an uninterrupted 9 week holiday.

In previous years schools are asked not to close before the beginning of July. This year schools can close on for the summer on June 26th, when Eid is expected to fall.

While the KHDA is allowing schools to end the school year ‘early’, so far specific school calendars are not showing many schools taking advantage of the opportunity.

Most school academic calendars are still showing Friday 7th July as the end of the academic year.

This will mean a return to school for one week after the end of the Eid break.

Specific calendars are mostly showing July 7th as the end of the academic year. Contact your school to confirm its specific intentions for the summer break.

As always contact your school to confirm its specific plans with regards to term dates.
