Doha College is a high-profile leading British International School in Qatar delivering a well-balanced, all-embracing English National Curriculum to students aged 3-18. The College was also the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world. With 2,500 students and 350 staff, the school is a vibrant international community that subscribes to equal opportunities for all. An exciting time for the school, last year we moved to a brand new, 90,000m² state-of-the-art campus, amalgamating two previous sites and ensuring the College’s place at the forefront of educational provision in world-class facilities.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to start in August 2022. As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching Geography and History in Key Stages 3 and 4, monitoring and evaluating student achievement and contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission.
The post holder will be working within a highly motivated, committed and supportive team focused on academic success and will be required to teach both History and Geography.
Alongside an academic focus, we also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, aimed at increasing learning of the subject and promoting the uptake of the subject at GCSE and A Level. For Geography, these include an Eco Club and strong links with the International Award Scheme. For History, these include a medieval pop song contest and a bi-annual history trip to places linked to our syllabus, for example, Washington, DC, Munich, and Auschwitz, as well as trips to the universities here in Qatar.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding role model within the College with a passion for helping our students to succeed.
Candidates should have demonstrated success in their current role, be highly motivated and successful practitioners in Geography and/or History and be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the College. A high level of subject knowledge and, above all else, a real passion for the subject is necessary. Geography and History classes are all mixed ability with a high top end, which enables staff to make the subject accessible to all, and, at the same time, to stretch the top end of the cohort.
A high standard of written and spoken English is an essential requirement for all our positions. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including co-curricular activities.
This is a non-sponsored position and only candidates with family sponsorship currently residing in Qatar will be considered. The position will be based at our Al Wajba Campus.
Please note: Due to government requirements, we can only consider applicants who are below 50 years old for this position.
