Hartland International School seeks to appoint an exceptional Head of Design Technology to lead and support our expansion and provision across this phase of the school.
The school which opened in September 2015, has already established a reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and leadership in the region. By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in Design Technology, by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care. The successful candidate will be required to show leadership in securing standards of excellence in teaching and learning and will have the necessary skills needed to devise a curriculum which will stimulate and motivate students to achieve. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity and diverse for all. The department will consist of three full time teachers and a DT technician. Design Technology is taught from Year 2 in the primary phase and all members of the team teach across all phases.
The department has seen enormous success in the past few years, with winning teams from primary and secondary at world level in the F1 in Schools programme. The successful candidate would be expected to continue this aspect of school life.
The successful candidate will:
• Hold a relevant degree in the areas of Resistant Materials or Product Design and a teaching qualification
• Have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England in the UK or in an international setting, with evidence of examination outcomes for students at GCSE and A-Level.
• Have a minimum 5 years teaching experience
• Have exceptional communication skills
• Be confident using computer aided design software, including Fusion 360
• Be confident using computer aided manufacturing, including laser cutters and 3D printers
• Have a good understanding of electronic systems
