We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Head of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History to start in August 2022.
As the Head of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a big department, with responsibility for monitoring and evaluating student achievement, as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission.
We currently offer four foreign languages: French, German, Spanish and Arabic at both IGCSE and A Level. The Department also offers a wide range of co-curricular activities, including Film and Cooking Clubs, as well as a vibrant mentoring programme. Educational trips to several European countries are regularly run by the MFL Faculty of which the Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History are part. These visits form an integral part of student learning experiences.
All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smart boards and displays; all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry, and staff and students use Google Classroom.
As a Head of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History, you will be teaching all key stages and will be responsible for instilling a passion for your subjects in students and monitoring and evaluating student achievements, as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission.
To be successful, you will be an outstanding role model within the Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History Department and Doha College as a whole. You will need to demonstrate success in your current role, be highly motivated and above all else, have a real passion for the subject.
We are a British international school, and all of our lessons are taught in English; therefore, a high standard of written and spoken English is essential, along with a detailed knowledge of the UK National Curriculum. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including co-curricular activities.
The Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History Department progress and resources are also monitored by the MOEHE in Qatar and teaching must follow their requirements. As Head of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History, you must have a clear understanding of these requirements and ensure that they are implemented consistently.
